A choreographer, dancer, teacher, and producer, Kristin Sudeikis is a highly involved and influential member of the New York metropolitan, national, and international dance communities. As both Artistic Director of Kristin Sudeikis Dance and as a commercial choreographer, Kristin creates work that is rooted in igniting social activism and connected to the world—seeking to affect lasting change through ephemeral moments. Her commercial work ranges from screen to brand promotion, and includes dance events for SELF Magazine, Microsoft, and Wells Fargo Bank. Most notably, Kristin created with and for NIKE as part of the NIKE Blast women’s training event in Stockholm, Sweden (2010-2014). She and her choreography have also been featured on NBC’s 30 Rock; with Mariah Carey on Good Morning America; in music videos and tours for recording artists; and in such publications as Marie Claire, Vogue, Dance Teacher Magazine, and SHAPE Magazine. Most recently, Kristin was commissioned to choreograph music videos for Chinese pop star Bibi Wu, expanding her cliental of recording artists to include international musicians.
Kristin has also produced, directed, and choreographed four original, sold out productions in NYC. Her 2010, “Even in Silence…” and its companion piece, “Even in Silence part deux, the light Remains…” explore the power and poignancy of the unsaid. In May 2012, Sudeikis had the honor of creating for the Peridance Contemporary Company, presenting the world premier work, “I Am You”. With social activism as a constant influence, Kristin choreographed and produced “STAND”, a benefit to promote awareness of the human trafficking epidemic. “STAND” was produced in conjunction with the GEMS organization and the Half the Sky Movement, both of which provide services for female victims of oppression and sexual exploitation. In addition to full-evening productions, Kristin Sudeikis Dance has also performed in festivals throughout the New York metropolitan area and the United States, including the Brooklyn Dance Festival, The Gratitude Project, Young Choreographer’s Festival; and tours in San Francisco, Raleigh, Houston, and Stamford, CT. Kristin Sudeikis Dance made its film premier in March 2014, with an original dance film set to John Legend’s, “Made to Love”. The company is currently in the midst of creating their second series of dance films.
When at home in New York City, Kristin teaches at Broadway Dance Center and at Peridance Capezio Center. She also travels nationally and internationally, choreographing, performing, and presenting master classes at colleges, studios, and festivals. Most recently, Kristin taught at the American Dance Festival in North Carolina, and remarks, “a space that honors global visionaries such as Maya Angelou, Pina Bausch, and Bill T. Jones is a cool and invigorating place to move”.This year, Kristin was among such artists as Camille A. Brown in representing “Women in Dance,” a mentorship program for up and coming creators and choreographers. Whether on stage, on set, or in the studio, Kristin’s driving focus is to allow others to experience the true and real social impact that is created when music, time, space, and ‘the other’ connect. Ultimately, Kristin encourages dancers to reach far beyond any limitations they may perceive themselves to have, “only then, can they tap into what they want to become. Dance is a gift. Study hard. Take care of it. Never cease striving to become the artist you want to be.”
